THE COQUITLAM CHORALE SOCIETY

The Coquitlam Chorale Society is a secular adult choir comprised of two vocal ensembles “The Coquitlam Chorale” and “Concordia”. Based in Coquitlam, British Columbia, the Society has been sharing our music in the Tri-Cities since 1967.

We are a member of the British Columbia Chorale Federation, as well as a registered non-profit society and a registered charity. The Society is run by a volunteer Board of Directors who are elected at our Annual General Meeting each year.

The Coquitlam Chorale is a non-auditioned adult choir that has been delighting audiences for more than 55 years.

We were established in 1967 by founder, Ray Thompson, who believed that there was a need for a choral group where people who love to sing could come together, regardless of ability, and share their music as a community service.

Although Ray retired as Chorale Conductor in 1988, we continue to honour and uphold that vision under the current leadership of our Artistic Director, Justin Maller.

The Coquitlam Chorale inspires a strong following through consistent excellence in performance, a rich palette of sound, and professional presentation.

Concordia was founded in 2022 by Artistic Director, Justin Maller and it's inception was funded and supported through the generosity of the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant.

With the same principles and commitment to the community that have served The Coquitlam Chorale, this 16-voice auditioned, mixed ensemble offers interested Coquitlam Chorale members the opportunity to expand their musical knowledge and entertain the community with a creative mixed repertoire that includes many genres.

Concordia will be performing alongside The Coquitlam Chorale in their yearly concerts as well as performing in a solo concert early next year.

Concordia hopes to perform in festivals, local markets, and benefits throughout the community and beyond!
